
Jerry Rice
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Jerry Rice has served in nonprofit leadership roles for more than 20 years. He has served as a pastor, program director for Altoona Intervention Project (AIP), and executive director at The Beacon, an organization for at-risk youth he started. At AIP he started several new programs and services geared to improving the lives of his clients. He is passionate about building programs and providing services to underserved and at-risk populations.
He has been married for 36 years, has 5 children, and 3 grandchildren. He loves to spend time outside, traveling, visiting his family, and training his therapy dog.

René McCurdy
Development Director
René McCurdy provides strategic fundraising leadership while building community partnerships and strengthening donor relations. She brings over fifteen years of progressive organizational leadership, with experience establishing donor pipelines, strengthening development systems, and guiding financial planning.
René has 3 children and 2 granddaughters. She enjoys the outdoors, cycling, traveling and spending as much time with family and friends as possible.

Kala Henry
Community Navigator
Kala Henry brings a unique and valuable perspective to the Benjamin E. Mays Family Center as a proud Pacolet resident of five years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and has a background in crisis intervention and case management.
In her role, Kala connects individuals and families with essential resources and referrals to help them overcome life’s challenges. She also plays an active part in supporting and coordinating programs and community events, working to ensure the Center remains a welcoming and impactful resource for all.
