Our Founding Sponsors Helped Make All This Real
The Benjamin E. Mays Family Center was incorporated on March 1st of 2022 after the Pacolet community affirmed a multi-use family center as an important need for Pacolet and surrounding communities.
During the feasibility and initial planning phases, nearly 300 community members responded to surveys and other volunteers vocalized support through volunteer hours and attending community meetings.
The center will re-open a portion of this 50,000-square-foot building with services that support families and combat these alarming statistics for children under five.
A child must learn early to believe that she is somebody worthwhile and that she can do many praiseworthy things.

The center will use a family resource center model, a national promising practice, and aims to have limited staff with most services provided by existing Spartanburg organizations that currently have no presence in Pacolet.
The Board of Directors is working with advisors to determine the amount that must be raised to maximize the building use for residents, especially for children under the age of five. They are actively raising money to hire a Director for the center, so that a capital campaign and some services may begin in 2023.
